The Fingerprint Society in conjunction with the National Police Improvement Agency is offering you the opportunity to be involved in a two-day NPIA accredited CPD course with world renowned fingerprint expert Alice Maceo of the Las Vegas Crime Lab. The conference, scheduled for 11th – 12th April 2011, will follow on directly from the 2011 Annual Fingerprint Society Education conference.
This CPD course will cover the following topics:
and is intended as an advanced course. As part of the course each delegate will receive a resource pack that will include a colour notebook with over 100 enlarged latent print images to analyze and discuss. This resource pack may form the basis for delegates to disseminate the knowledge and skills gained by attendance within their local fingerprint community.
Although Alice will need little introduction, the following represents a brief biography:
‘Alice Maceo holds a BS in Biology from the University of Alaska, Anchorage and has been an active latent print examiner since 1997. She is currently the Forensic Lab Manager of the Latent Print section of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department Forensic Laboratory. Alice has been certified as a Latent Print Examiner by the IAI since 2001. She is also a distinguished member of the IAI and continues to serve on SWGFAST, the General Forensic TWG, the Expert Working Group on Human Factors in Latent Prints, and the IAI Editorial Board. Alice has published multiple articles and has lectured through out the U.S.A., Canada, and Europe. This workshop is the culmination of two years of research designed to aid the interpretation of forensic evidence.’
The course is competitively priced at £180 per delegate for the two days (equivalent to £90 per day) and is limited in the first instance to a maximum of 20 delegates. The location will be at the University of Wolverhampton’s city centre campus. This location allows delegates to use the canteen facilities available at the University, keeping the price of delegate attendance to a minimum and allowing a wide range of cuisine to meet individual dietary needs. This central location allows commuting from a wide area of the country avoiding overnight accommodation expenses or a plethora of readily available reasonably priced local hotels for those unable to commute (the Travelodge in Central Wolverhampton is located 5 minutes walk for the University and currently offers rooms from £29 per night for the nights of 10th and 11th April, 2011).
Booking for this course is already available on line at: http://alicemaceo2011.eventbrite.com/ and enquiries can be dealt alternatively with by emailing Raul Sutton, the event organiser at R.Sutton@wlv.ac.uk.
